Time flies

Wow, time flies when you're without the internet for a while.  Didn't realize that it's been a week since the last real post from Tucson.

First, I did find a couple pics from Old Tucson that I'll put in... second one is for Mel, so she can continue to show restraint in her comments:

And here's our cozy little site at Desert Diamond.  They certainly make the site numbers large enough - guess that's for the older folks who forgot their glasses.

Leaving Tucson we decided to travel via the Ajo highway rather than interstate it... here's a typical picture of AZ highway 86:

We passed through Why, which is the junction for Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.  This is supposed to be beautiful and well worth a few days.  We passed it by this time but it's on the list for future.  There's also some BLM land just north of there, and you know how I love the free desert camping!

Once we got back to civilization of sorts at Gila Bend, we headed north to pick up I-10 and then west to Quartzsite.  I don't have any pictures of it this time - if you want some check the back pages for February '08 or December '09.  The place was hopping a lot more than it was in December, but nothing going on in the big tent (we were between the mineral show and the RV show, I think.  Stayed at Quartzsite for a couple of days (Jan 11 & 12), just long enough to load up with must-have RV doo-dads and trinkets, and then north to Lake Havasu City.

At Lake Havasu, we stayed at Craggy Wash BLM a couple nights, but further (~ 5 km)up than before.  The wash is now closed to camping for the first mile - don't know why - anyway.  Lots of BC and Alaska rigs, plus others.

The temperatures over the past week have been pretty good - highs in the low 70s F (~20-24 C) and overnight lows only down to 45-50 F (8-10 C).  The only thing we can really complain about is that we're headed north, and I'm sure we won't get a lot of sympathy for that.

It was so warm that Wendy even got into shorts for a couple of days (I think this is the last one, when we got to Laughlin):

So, we've been in Laughlin since Jan 15, donating some funds to the poor casino owners to help with the economy and stocking up on all the Target and Dollar Tree goodies we think we'll need.  Heading out this morning towards Vegas to link up with I-15 for the homeward trip.  From the looks of the weather we'll winterize somewhere around northern Utah, and from that point it'll be a dash homeward.  Hope you keep those warmer temps for a while, as if it gets to -30 on the way I might have a difficult time keeping the nose pointed north.

Here's a couple pics of the 4-legged kids just so you know they're still with us:

Vic, you're killing me here. This one's just too easy. Gotta leave it alone.
